What To Do if You Suffer a Vacation Injury

New Orleans is known for more than just Mardi Gras. Vacationers, tourists and convention attendees come to New Orleans all year for work and for fun. Unfortunately, vacationers can end up leaving with more than just memories of a good time. An accident at a hotel, resort or amusement park can have lasting effects for you physically and financially.

While on vacation, the unlucky tourist might experience any of the following:

·         Abuse by resort staff

·         Sexual assault as a result of poor security

·         A bicycle accident on report property

·         Slip and fall injury on a wet floor

·         Infection from an unclean hot tub or whirlpool

·         Injuries from resort-sponsored sporting activities

·         Parasailing injuries

If you suffer an injury while on vacation, make sure you get the proper police, emergency and/or medical attention. Report the accident or incident to any surrounding staff, and request that the report be put in writing. Keep a copy of the report for yourself. You should also get the names and contact information of any witnesses. Shortly after the incident, write down as much as you can remember about what happened. If you have a camera, take photographs.

Hotels, motels and other public facilities owe a duty of care to their guests and invitees. If they do not uphold their duty of care and you suffer an injury, they are liable for your compensation.
