Louisiana Man Injured in Texas Truck Accident

Last month, a 26-year-old Louisiana man suffered facial cuts and an open foot fracture when his pickup truck collided with a dump truck on U.S. Highway 87 in Texas. According to a Department of Public Safety Trooper, the man’s 2006 GMC pickup struck a 1993 industrial dump truck as both traveled south on Highway 87. Troopers re-routed traffic on the highway for about 45 minutes.

The pickup changed lanes and hit the rear of the dump truck, which dragged the pickup approximately 75 feet. The dump truck driver was initially unaware that the pickup had struck his vehicle. Investigators say that the Louisiana man may have fallen asleep at the wheel while traveling at a high speed. He was wearing a seat belt and rescue workers transported him to a nearby hospital.

The dump truck driver did not suffer injuries in the car accident. Investigators are still trying to determine a definitive cause of the collision.
