New Orleans Police Officer Arrested for DWI and Leaving the Scene of an Accident

Earlier this month, New Orleans police arrested a fellow New Orleans police officer for leaving the scene of a car accident and DWI. The 31-year-old female officer was off-duty at the time of her arrest and driving her personal vehicle. Her blood alcohol level at the time was .153, nearly double the legal limit in Louisiana.

Before her arrest, the officer hit a parked vehicle in the 5400 block of Tullis Drive in Algiers at around 3:45 a.m. She apparently struck the parked car and traveled “a distance” before coming to a stop. The official report did not indicate how far she traveled before police stopped her. She refused to answer standard questions from the arresting officer, who suspected she was intoxicated.

Police booked her into jail and the traffic court judge granted her parole less than one hour later. The police superintendent placed her on unpaid suspension the same day. She has been on the New Orleans police force for eight years.
