New Orleans Woman Claims Hospital Infested with Insects

A former patient at Touro Infirmary Hospital claims the garbage in her hospital room was so overflowing that the bugs bit her, and now she is suing the hospital in Orleans Parish Civil District Court. While at the hospital, the woman claims her hospital bed was “surrounded and infested with insects.”

After notifying hospital staff of the problem, they moved her to various rooms, which offered no escape from the insects. Her complaint says the insects were swarming around garbage cans that overflowed with trash. While in the hospital, she was “severely affected with insect bites,” according to the complaint.

The plaintiff accuses the hospital and hospital staff of failing to keep a safe environment for patients. She pleads permanent disability, mental anguish and any other damages allowed by law.
