Woman Files Civil Rights Lawsuit against Chevron for Aggressive Supervisor

A former Chevron employee who refused to go on a date with her supervisor filed suit against the company for violating her civil rights, according to her complaint in New Orleans federal court. She filed her complaint last month against the Chevron Oronite Company.

The plaintiff began working for Chevron in December 2008. According to her complaint, her immediate supervisor made inappropriate comments and continually asked her out on a date. She complained about the supervisor’s behavior in April 2009. After making her complaint, she claims Chevron fired her without a formal write-up. Chevron told her that she was “not fit for the position.”

The woman claims Chevron violated her civil rights by subjecting her to sexual discrimination and by firing her for complaining of her supervisor’s inappropriate behavior. She asks the court for an injunction preventing Chevron from further gender discrimination and for back pay, front pay, pain and suffering, loss of reputation, embarrassment, punitive damages, in addition to other damages.
