Two 18-Wheelers Collide on Louisiana Interstate

Earlier this month, traffic on Interstate 10 was limited to one lane after an accident involving two 18-wheel trucks. The two truck drivers each had a passenger and all four suffered moderate injuries. In addition, authorities had to clean-up a diesel spill from the accident.

The accident happened in the eastbound lane shortly before 5:30 a.m. One of the 18-wheel drivers parked the truck on the right shoulder of I-10 on the Bonnet Carre Spillway with its reflective triangle behind it. The second truck collided with it from the rear at mile marker 211. Investigators do not know why the driver did not see the parked 18-wheeler.

After the crash, traffic moved freely in the westbound lane, but the eastbound lanes from Baton Rouge were heavily congested. State Police were on-hand to help keep traffic moving. The investigation into the accident is on going.

Due to their hefty size and weight, accidents involving 18-wheel trucks can have devastating results. Depending on the circumstances, the driver and/or trucking company can be liable for injuries to you or your loved one.
