Former AT&T Employee Alleges Company Told Him to Violate Corporate Policy

AT&T is the defendant in a lawsuit filed by a former employee who claims supervisors told him to violate corporate policy. The employee alleges AT&T subsequently fired him when he violated the policy as told. The plaintiff filed suit in March in Terrebonne Parish District Court. AT&T removed the case to federal court in New Orleans last month.

The plaintiff was a premises technician, and he is alleging that supervisors told him to cut corners in order to complete his work faster. In addition, they told him to violate the company’s policy and standard operating procedures. He claims the company terminated him in March 2010 after doing as told by supervisors.

The lawsuit claims that the defendants are negligent in failing to provide adequate training and supervision, failing to follow its own guidelines and procedures, hiring supervisors who provided inadequate training and for hiring supervisors who ordered employees to violate company policies and guidelines.

The former employee is asking for damages for loss of income, loss of reputation, difficulty in obtaining future jobs, loss of future income, emotional anguish and trauma, interest and attorney’s fees
