Driver Suing Car Rental Company for Hit and Run Accident

A car rental company and one of its vehicle renters are the defendants in a lawsuit filed by an Orleans Parish man earlier this month in Orleans Parish Civil District Court. The plaintiff claims the driver rented a Jeep from Dollar Rent-a-Car, collided with him and drove away without stopping. The car accident occurred this past January on Poydras Street.

The plaintiff and the defendant’s Jeep were traveling on Poydras Street when the defendant made a left hand turn and collided with the plaintiff’s vehicle. According to the complaint, the defendant did not stop after the collision.

The plaintiff alleges he suffered injuries to his shoulders, neck, back and spine in the accident. He also claims injuries to his entire body. There was also extensive property damage to the plaintiff’s vehicle from the collision.

The complaint accuses the defendants of negligence for failing to yield the right of way, inattentive driving and hit-and-run.
