Drug Advocacy Group Gets Out the Warning Surrounding Yaz Birth Control Pill

The U.S. Drug Watchdog wants to hear from women who suffered health problems from the Yaz and Yasmin birth control pills. The advocacy group cites reports from the United States and Canada of women who suffered pulmonary embolism, heart attack, stroke and other ill effects. The U.S. Drug Watchdog is a private group that advocates for victims of harmful pharmaceuticals and medical devices.

Problems with Yaz date back to September 2009 when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent a warning letter to Bayer Pharmaceuticals saying that the company did not disclose certain test results surrounding Yaz. In addition, the letter said that certain batches of the contraceptive should not have gone out to the public.

Some health problems linked to Yaz include stroke, heart attack, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, gallbladder problems and even death. The U.S. Drug Watchdog wants to warn women about the drug’s dangers and tell victims that they should hire an attorney right away.
