10-Year-Old Kenner Boy Shoots his 7-Year-Old Friend

Police arrested a 10-year-old boy from Kenner after he allegedly shot another 7-year-old boy in the leg with a handgun, according to a story at fox8live.com. The shooting incident happened earlier this month when the two boys were playing video games. The suspect fled the scene after shooting his friend, but police performed a gunpowder residue test, which showed that the 10-year-old fired the gun.

A New Orleans police spokesperson said the incident is not the first time the juvenile has fired a gun at someone. A few months ago, police arrested the boy for shooting three people with a BB gun. The BB gun shootings were intentional, said the spokesperson. Police think the recent shooting with a real gun may have been intentional as well.

New Orleans police do not know how the suspect got hold of a real gun. Investigators will see if the boy’s parents are liable for their son’s actions in the present case. The boy got rid of the gun after the shooting and investigators are still searching for it.

A police spokesperson said the fact that the boy graduated from a BB gun to a real gun is disturbing.
