New Orleans Police Searching for Motorcyclist Involved in Deadly Hit-and-Run

New Orleans police are looking for a late-model Suzuki motorcycle involved in a fatal hit-and-run motorcycle accident last week in an east New Orleans neighborhood. The accident claimed the life of a 3-year-old girl at a Fourth of July neighborhood celebration, according to a police report.

According to witnesses, children were playing and lighting fireworks in the 8800 block of Dinkins Street on July 4. A group of motorcyclists drove down the street and began performing stunts for the group of onlookers. The 3-year-old victim was standing next to a parked car when one of the motorcycles hit her. The impact tossed the girl in the air and she landed in the street.

One eyewitness to the fatal accident said the motorcycle hit the girl as it came down from performing a wheelie. The victim’s mother witnessed the accident as well. The motorcyclist turned to look at the girl and then drove away from the accident scene, according to a New Orleans police spokesperson. Tire marks from the motorcycles were still visible on the street near the accident scene.

Neither the witnesses nor the New Orleans police can identify the suspect. The Suzuki model is a blue and white GSX-R 1000 motorcycle.
