Police Conduct Toxicology Test on Victim’s Body in Fatal Car Crash

A two-car collision in Jefferson Parish earlier this month killed a 53-year-old New Orleans woman. The driver of the vehicle that hit her was drunk, and police think the victim may have been impaired as well, according to a report on fox8live.com.

The car accident happened close to midnight on U.S. 61 (Airline Highway) and Belleview Parkway. A 2001 Lincoln Continental was headed south on U.S. 61. The victim was driving a 2005 Ford Taurus and turned directly into the Lincoln’s path, according to police. The Lincoln hit her vehicle on the right passenger side. According to authorities, the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced her dead at the scene. The victim was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the car crash.

The 31-year-old man that struck her agreed to an alcohol breath test at the accident scene. He blew over the legal limit and police arrested him for DWI. The man is from Kenner. Authorities conducted a toxicology test on the victim to see if she may have been impaired at the time. The toxicology test results will take some time before police know. An investigation of the accident is ongoing.
