Woman Shot in Eye at Halloween Haunted House Attraction

A woman got more than she expected when visiting a haunted house in Jefferson last October. The woman alleges an employee of The House of Shock shot her in the eye with an air rifle, according to her complaint filed last month in New Orleans federal court.

According to a report from the Louisiana Record, the woman visited the haunted house attraction in October 2010. Approximately 20 minutes into the tour, an employee of the House of Shock jumped at her and fired an air rifle at her. The employee was dressed in costume as part of the attraction. It is unknown if there was a projectile in the air rifle.

The woman suffered a fracture to her left eye and tore her left cornea. She accuses the House of Shock of negligence for her personal injury and for failing to properly train its employee. Her New Orleans injury lawyer seeks damages for medical expenses, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, lost wages and loss of earning capacity from her eye injury.

Injuries suffered on another owner’s property can be relatively minor or serious. Either way, in some cases the property owner is responsible for injuries suffered by guests and invitees.
