Pickup Driver Traveling 90 mph When He Hit Teen Driver

A 16-year-old Louisiana boy is dead at the hands of a speeding pickup truck driver. The fatal car crash happened earlier this month on LA 37 around 6 p.m., according to wafb.com. The teen driver made a left turn onto LA 37 but turned directly into the path of a speeding pickup truck.

The 31-year-old pickup driver struck the teen’s car and pushed it into the ditch.  Emergency responders pronounced the boy dead at the accident scene. The pickup driver suffered minor injuries in the collision. Investigators at the scene were able to determine that the pickup was speeding at the time of impact. Police estimate his speed at over 90 mph.

State troopers arrested the pickup driver and charged him with reckless driving and not wearing a seatbelt. An investigation is ongoing and additional criminal charges may follow.

It is a senseless accident when someone loses his or her life simply because someone else is in a hurry. The driver in the above accident was traveling at almost twice the posted speed limit. We will keep you posted on any further criminal charges against the pickup driver.
