Son Watches his Father Fall to Death from Scaffolding

A Tangipahoa Parish man filed a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of his father who died in a construction accident last October. As reported at louisianarecord.com, the victim fell 40 feet from scaffolding on the jobsite. Making it even worse is that the plaintiff witnessed his father fall to his death.

According to his complaint in New Orleans federal court, his father was climbing the alleged defective scaffold when it broke. His father was not wearing safety lines and he died from injuries suffered in the fall. The plaintiff says the scaffolding company, Paramount Scaffold Gulf Region, Inc., should have provided safety lines for his father. In addition, he also accuses the defendant of failing to properly construct the scaffolding.

The victim’s son is asking the court for damages for the loss of aid, assistance, love and affection plus courts costs. He also wants damages for having witnessed the fatal accident.

While nothing can replace the loss of a father, the plaintiff here can at least hope for some sort of compensation for his loss. Construction sites are common places for injuries and faulty equipment is often the cause of serious injuries and accidents.
