This is Why You Should Always Move a Stalled Vehicle

A stalled vehicle on Interstate 10 in Louisiana caused a car accident and a fatality last week, according to a report at nola.com. The driver and passenger were in a stalled Chevy Impala in the left lane of the Interstate. The driver got out of the vehicle and stood near the rear while the passenger remained inside the car.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the stalled Impala did not have its flashers or any lights activated as it sat in the left lane of the highway. An Acura hit the vehicle, killing the passenger sitting inside the Impala. The driver standing outside the car suffered injuries and rescue workers transported him to a nearby hospital. Emergency responders pronounced the 20-year-old victim dead at the accident scene. The Acura driver suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Investigators said there was no way the Acura could avoid hitting the stalled Impala. Police instead charged the driver of the stalled vehicle with obstruction of the highway. Investigators do not think alcohol played a factor in the car crash.

If your car stalls on the road, police recommend that you move it out of the way as quickly as possible. If you cannot move the car, make sure the lights are on or that the car is illuminated in some way.
