Two More Injured Passengers Not Wearing a Seatbelt

A single-vehicle car crash in Jefferson Davis Parish sent two people to the hospital, according to a report at katc.com. The car accident happened on September 13 around 3:45 in the afternoon on Louisiana Highway 395.

According to the police report, an 18-year-old male was driving a Chevy pickup when he lost control and veered off the road. The pickup hit a driveway and flipped. The impacted ejected the driver and his 32-year-old passenger from the vehicle. The passenger suffered serious injuries and emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital. The driver suffered mild injuries in the car wreck.

Neither of the two victims was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the rollover crash. Our blogs this week highlighted stories of drivers and passengers who neglected to wear their seatbelts. As you can see, the results are rarely positive when seatbelts go un-used in a car wreck.

An earlier blog post this week mentioned the report saying that 3 out of 4 drivers and passengers in Louisiana use their seatbelts. That still means that 1 out of every 4 drivers and passengers are not wearing their seatbelt. Unfortunately, those are the ones who usually end up with injuries or even worse in a car accident.
