Pregnant Woman Slips and Falls in Area Walmart Store

A pregnant woman slipped and fell at a Walmart in Covington last year and she is now suing the store for her injuries. Last October, the plaintiff was in the Covington retailer when she slipped on a foreign substance on the floor near the store’s deli. She filed her personal injury lawsuit last month in New Orleans federal court, according to louisianarecord.com.

According to her complaint, the store allowed the slippery substance to remain on the floor for a substantial amount of time before her accident. She says there were no warning signs in the area around the substance and that Walmart failed to clean the area. Her complaint also alleges that Walmart failed to warn customers of the danger even though the store had actual knowledge of it.

Her complaint asks the court for damages for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, anxiety, medical expenses, lost wages and attorney’s fees.

Large retail stores and super stores are busy places. Employees do not always see or are aware of dangerous conditions. A small amount of liquid or other substance can result in slip and fall accidents on a hard surface. Older victims are especially susceptible to painful injuries from slip and fall accidents.

Do you notify store employees when you see something potentially dangerous on the floor or in another area of the store?
