Why Do Drivers Take More Risks in December?

With Christmas just days away and New Years Eve just around the corner, the holiday party season is in full swing. There are office parties to attend and family gatherings to enjoy. If you plan on making alcohol a part of your holiday celebrations, remember to stay safe and let someone else drive.

Law enforcement across the country increase patrols this time of year. It is not only alcohol that increases driver risk, but it is the overall hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Drivers are rushing around to get from one place to the next, and they are picking up the cell phone more often behind the wheel. In addition, they can forget simple act of putting on a seatbelt in all the rush.

A local law enforcement officer commented that the goal is to get as many unsafe drivers off the road as possible in the holiday season. Around this time of year, it just happens that a lot of those unsafe drivers are alcohol-impaired, said the police officer.
