Is There Less Road Rage in Warmer Months?

We told you in our Monday blog that texting while driving can lead to road rage. The popular job site Career Builder released a study showing that three out of five Chicago-area commuters experiences road rage in their daily commutes. The report suggests that texting while driving is the cause of many road rage incidents, as reported at nbcchicago.com.

The younger generation is more apt to text while driving, and as a result, expose themselves to a higher risk of accidents and road rage. Sixty-eight percent of drivers age 25 to 34 are more likely to text and have a road rage incident, according to the study. By comparison, 47 percent of drivers over age 55 are likely to do the same thing.

The study noted that weather is a factor in all of this. Drivers tend to have an easier commute in warmer weather and the numbers reflect that. Seventeen percent of commuters reported experiencing less road rage in the summer months.

Road rage can lead to extremely dangerous behavior. Drivers will use their cars as a weapon and some incidents have drivers getting out of their vehicles and assaulting each other.
