“It Can Wait” Campaign Comes to New Orleans

Just in time for the release of the new iPhone, AT&T launched a safety campaign in New Orleans warning drivers about texting while driving. Late last month, the “It Can Wait” campaign targeted young drivers to let them know that checking a text message can wait until after they’ve reached their destination.

AT&T has a driving simulator making its way across the country as part of its effort. The simulator shows that a driver can drive the equivalent of three football fields in the time it takes to send a text message. That type of activity injures or kills a driver every five minutes in the United States, according to the National Safety Council. Texting while driving can be the cause of another driving danger – road rage. Several drivers report that they want to drive aggressively after they see another driver texting behind the wheel.
