Man Ejected From Car, Killed Instantly

On April 21, a Gramercy man was killed after he was ejected from his car during a two-vehicle accident.

According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP), a 27-year-old man from Gramercy was driving a 2002 GMC Envoy south in the right lane of Airline Highway, when his vehicle struck the rear of a 1994 Lincoln Towncar driven by a 25-year-old man, also of Gramercy.

The 25-year-old’s car spun off the road, while the 27-year-old also lost control of his vehicle, which rolled over several times onto the right shoulder of the road. The 27-year-old was ejected from his car as it rolled. The other young man and his passenger sustained minor injuries. The 27-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation. The LSP stated that the use of seat belts greatly increases your chance of survival in auto accidents.

“Louisiana law requires every vehicle occupant, front seat and back seat, to be properly restrained day or night,” an officer stated at the scene.
