Drunken Driver Kills Woman in Fatal Terrebonne Parish Car Crash

According to Louisiana State Police, on August 10, one driver’s reckless drunk driving caused a fatal car crash that killed one woman and injured both drivers.

In Terrebonne Parish, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a 41-year-old driver attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot, veering his Maxima into the lane of a 2004 Cadillac CTS. The CTS struck the Maxima on its right side, spinning the car into a parking lot where it collided with a parked, unoccupied vehicle.

The 41-year-old motorist was over double the legal alcohol limit and was arrested for vehicular homicide, failure to yield while turning left and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. The 22-year-old driver of the CTS was found to be over the legal alcohol limit as well; the young motorist was arrested for driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.

A female passenger in the Maxima sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene; both drivers sustained minor injuries. The fatal crash remains under investigation.
