Football Player Sues Hospital for Improper Diagnosis

After a player was knocked out during a high school football game, he has filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against a Gretna hospital and its staff concerning the care he received following the incident, according to The Louisiana Record.

In his suit, the player claims that after suffering head and leg injuries in a football game in September of 2013, he was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he was diagnosed with a concussion and hip contusion. Following his diagnosis, the suit alleges that the player was discharged from the hospital on pain medication and crutches.

The player claims that in the days following his discharge, he returned to the hospital multiple times complaining of pain in his testicle and abdomen and nausea. Finally, during his third visit to the facility, doctors discovered that the football injury had cut off blood flow to his testicle. Unfortunately, because it had taken three days for the injury to be discovered, the testicle had become necrotic, meaning it would never function properly again.
