What are Some Dangers Associated With Hospital Treatment?

A bitter surprise welcomed a Louisiana patient upon waking up from surgery. What was dismissed by his doctor as ingrown hairs turned into a lengthy and painful battle with moderate methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureau, commonly known as MRSA or staph infection. MRSA is a dangerous bacteria often found in medical environments. It is highly contagious, resistant to medicine, and often requires lengthy and painful staph infection treatment. Within a day of his surgery, the patient noticed severe swelling which he reported to doctors. He was told to put ice on the area to reduce the swelling.

Three weeks later, the patient underwent emergency surgery to remove necrotic tissue, at which point his diagnosis changed from ingrown hairs to gangrene as a result of a MRSA bacterial infection. After his surgery, he contends that he spent three weeks in recovery at a nursing home. He is now suing for an unspecified amount of damages for the doctor’s failure to provide a sterile medical environment as well as an inability to be practicing medicine with the proper required skill.
