School Bus Accident Sends Eight Students to Hospital

An accident involving a car and a school bus sent eight high school students to the hospital, according to New Orleans Police Department (NOPD). The accident occurred in 9th Ward around 6:20 p.m, according to NOPD Officer Garry Flot.

A bus carrying students from KIPP Renaissance High School in New Orleans stopped at a red light at the intersection of North Robertson and Mazant street, Flot told reporters. While stopped, 39-year-old Ammer Gader struck the bus from behind with his car.

The eight students aboard the bus, all between the ages of 17 and 19, complained of neck and back pain, according to Flot. They were all taken to a hospital to have their injuries evaluated. The school bus driver, who was not identified, was not injured in the accident.  Gader was cited for following too closely behind the school bus.
