Harrell & Nowak hired to help family recover life insurance proceeds

H&N was hired by a family to help obtain life insurance proceeds for the death of thier nephew who died of cancer.  The nephew purchased life insurance offered through his credit card that required him to pay his premiums with the credit card.  The life insurance company quit billing the card, and then told the man his policy had lapsed for nonpayment.  As soon as he learned that this, he sent the premium to the company and asked them to continue to bill the credit card.  But the insurance company refused to acdcept the premium, reinstate the policy, or issue a new one because he had recently been diagnosed with cancer.

Harrell & Nowak files motion for Court to preliminarily approve $500,000 settlement for environmental class action

Harrell & Nowak was appointed by the Court to represent the neighborhood bordering the Air Liquide facility at 6600 Old Gentilly Road for the neighbors’ exposure to a caustic dust.   On the morning of the first day of trial, one of the Trucking Defendants and its insurers offered to settle the claims for $500,000.  today, H&N filed a motion for the Court to preliminarily approve the settlement.

Federal Judge Denies Louisiana Company’s Request to Seal Evidence

The plaintiffs allege they worked in a hostile environment and that promotions went to lesser-qualified white employees.  The corporation wanted to prevent the public from seeing the depositions and documents uncovered in the case asking for the documents to be sealed.  The Court would not seal the evidence, and it is available to the public.
